AMVETS, which is also known as American Veterans, is the largest and oldest veterans service organization that is open to and fights for all veterans and their families.

AMVETS Mission Statement: To enhance and safeguard the entitlements for all American Veterans who have served honorably and to improve the quality of life for them, their families, and the communities where they live through leadership, advocacy and services.

As one of America’s leading veterans service organizations with more than 250,000 members, AMVETS has a proud history of assisting veterans and sponsoring numerous programs that serve our country and its citizens. Membership in AMVETS is open to anyone who honorably served, or currently serving, in the U.S. Armed Forces, including the National Guard and Reserves.

We are Veterans Serving Veterans! The helping hand that AMVETS extends takes many forms:

AMVETS Warrior Transition Workshops (WTW) are post-deployment training programs for service members and veterans, with a focus on those struggling with combat stress (PTS), military sexual trauma (MST) and readjustment issues resulting from one or more deployments. The program is a 3-day hands-on; de-Boot Camp, reintegration training program. The workshops are provided at no cost to the veteran.

AMVETS and the National Ladies Auxiliary are please to announce a WTW specifically for women veterans. Women veterans or active duty will come together to find a way to work through these traumas with peer to peer sessions for spiritual and emotional healing.

AMVETS National Ladies Auxiliary is a subordinate of AMVETS. We have been in the business of assisting veterans and their communities for over 50 years. It's a volunteer effort that we proudly carry out. From looking after our veterans and their families to those hospitalized and in need - all related to a veteran ourselves - are committed to working for the good of our country and the needs of its citizens.

We firmly believe that our service to our family members in the military did not stop with their discharge. For that reason, Auxiliary members across the nation give their time and efforts to ensure that our veterans' needs are met.

On behalf of myself, PNP Kathy Berning, and the members of the AMVETS National Ladies Auxiliary, we are proud to co-sponsor this Women Veterans’ Warrior Transition Workshop (WTW).

Thanks to the generous donations of our members to PNP Berning’s project to raise funds for the WTW during her year as President (2015-2016), this program will enable you to heal, learn and grow.

Evelyn R. McElvin, National President 2016-2017
